External Estop requested for no reason
« on: June 05, 2012, 05:09:18 PM »
Hey Guys,

I just had a weird thing happen.  I got an estop requested when the button was not pressed.  I reset and it did it again.  I reset and it did it a third time but on this third time it reset itself and started moving again.

The controller has a green light through all of this.

Any ideas.  Is it possible that the controller is the issue, Mach or both?

Limit switches may be dodgy, Wiring may be loose,  may be noise on limits or E-Stop, keyboad may be faulty.

No limits on my machine only homing switches...Are they active while cutting

new keyboard...noise is not different than before..

When you say wiring do you mean the homing or limit switches wiriing.

I was going to see if I can shut off an external estop request for now to see.

thanks for the quick reply Hood

Ok as long as the Home switches are not assigned as limits in Mach then they wont be the problem.
Presume you have an E-Stop switch so could be a loose wire on it.
How new is the keyboard? Has it just started after you got the keyboard?

Same keyboard for the last year but it of course just one year old.  There was a small cover for some wires that had come off.  I am not sure what it is called but it is the bit of plastic that keeps the ribbon secured to a pin connector.  I blew out a lot of dust?  We did have a few power outages a while ago...maybe a surge has damged the switch.

X++ X-- are disable and home is checked so I am pretty sure I have that right.\

Can you disable estop.  I tried but it seems to have enabled again automatically.

It seems to happen in near to the same part of the file.  I cut one side then the other and it is pretty close to the same area on each side.

You can disable the E-Stop by changing the active state.

Thanks again Hood.

We are super behind and this estop triggering came close to making me lose my cookies.  Your quick response was super helpful.  I blew a lot of dust out of the control box and it may have been the cause.  It is all good now.

Thanks again.

And I don't have an estop on my machine.  Just the power button.
