Is the late running stepper motors? If it is you could take all the old stuff off and put on new Drives :) I think this is about all you can do with this.. I don't know that machine at all.

Can you take some pictures of the lathe, the motors and inside the control cabinet. This may let us see what you have and might be able to advise you.

For the benefit of people who don`t recognise the name,Manurhin make some very nice machines.Mainly fixed and sliding head cnc lathes. As this has a 5T control it must be from the late 70`s early 80`s.They are French btw.
Unfortunately a Fanuc 5T must be one of the worst controls out there from an operator/programmers point. No screen only a single line display. It would retrofit keeping the original drives and some sort of interface between Mach and said drives as they will be analogue brushed dc servos.
Can the op tell us if it is fixed or sliding head?
Mark.

I bought a new Manurhin a few years ago, it was the biggest pile of crap I ever had the misfortune to own, I cost me a mint in lost orders, I ended up sending it back to France as they never got it to run for more than 2 hours a day.  The final straw was when the motor mounting broke in two and the spindle motor crashed through the side of the machine. It took me 2 years to get my money back.
