Help on PMDX-125 & PMDX-107.
« on: March 25, 2012, 07:57:53 PM »
Hi, i guess this topic has been discussed before but after searching the forums i cant seem to find anything!

Can somebody please give me a "set-up for dummy" run down to set-up the PMDX-107. I'm using the PMDX-125 in "Normal mode" and trying to get the PMDX-107 to work. I have got all the info from PMDX but it just confuses me and not sure of what i should or should not see regarding voltages or LED's. I also understand what the VSD wants it is just this PMDX-107

Thank you in advance,

John

You would be best emailing Steve at PMDX and I am sure he will be able to give you help.

Tks hood, we r busy chatting at this stage. With his help i have got it running but the voltage of the PMDX-1-07 is only 5.7v and not 10v. So maybe there is something wrong with the hardware. But tks in anycase. John

Libbit,
I am running a pmdx 126 & 107.  Steve helped me figure out the 107. There are some small changes needed to the .XML file they give you.

Just like Hood says.

You may have to call Steve instead of e-mailing him. ;)

Hi Jackal, Steve gave me all the info i needed it was just me not been able to understand and digest it. But in the end i got it to work. Now I'm fighting with this pulley issue and  motor tuning for the spindle. My spindle is a China special and it runs from 7200RPM (120Hz - Minimum) to 24000RPM (400hz), to get the "S" command and the speed to be the same is proving to be a large challenged. But I will get it right just means hours of reading up in the forums. Regards John

John,

My spindle speed is pretty close on the high range.

I kept changing the pulley ratio in MACH 3  config  for the 2nd pulley, and trying to call it "low range".

I just ended up guessing at it and it seems to work ok for the low range.

In a program you have to change M03 to M04 if it is in low range, for forward direction.

As long as I'm the only operator, no problems. ;D

Not sure why you would need to use M3/M4. if it is the backgear you are using then choosing the reversed option should make Mach reverse the dir when that pulley is set. Does it not do that? I seem to remember there was a problem with this a while back but thought it got fixed.

No Hood, Mine doesn't do that. If I am running something in back gear ( low range), I choose reverse spindle  in the wizard I am using.

If it is G-code generated by Mastercam I just change it manually.

Is there  a setting that I am overlooking?? ???

Thanks,
Jack

In the Pulley setup there is a box for reversed. So say for example you put it in backgear and call the pulley ratio you have the backgear settings entered into then Mach will rotate the spindle the opposite way from normal for a M3 command.
