I have done it, see here http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/hoodsmachiningpages/Series1Retro.htm
What version of mill do you have, mine was a BOSS 6.1, does yours have servos or steppers?

Hi

I've also convert my Bridgeport Series 1 Boss 6.1 with steppers, I used all the original drivers and motors, just changed the control.

There is quite a few people done this, have a shearch on CNCzone you'll find quite a few threads about doing it like this one http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24314

You should be able to convert the servo version to but that will be a bit more complicated.

Cheers

Chris

Hey,
You won't need any experts. If you do, they are on here. I have a bare bones Dell Dimension B110. It works great.
;D If you could see the things I have in my head, you would be laughing too. ;D

You can use one or two ports, I have two in mine but if you just have limits and drives you can get away with only one port. You can use one limit switch per axis and configure it to be a limit for + and - and also it can act as a home switch when doing a reference move, this will save greatly on inputs needed.

Another thing I think is neat is an Ipac keystroke emulator. It hooks either to a ps2 connection or a USB port. With the Ipac 4 you can add 56 inputs. You set it up in Keygrabber.

Not sure if I remember correctly but I seem to recall that the USB versions didnt work too great in Mach so best sticking to the PS2 versions to be on the safe side, I have one and it is great for adding physical buttons ;)
