Old school work coordinates
« on: February 11, 2011, 07:50:58 AM »
I have been around a while and have used alot of different systems over the years.
I purchased a system from machmotion for my lathe with version mach3 R3.043.022.
I use GibbsCam 2011 turn and mill in the shop and we use G54, G55, G56, G57, coordinates and so forth for tool location from a set home position.
My question is can I use this same format in Mach 3?
I want to touch off tools enter the amounts in "X and Z" put a G55 or other into the program and go.
If it is possible could someone in layman terms explain how I can go about this IE do this, change that type of thing.
I have been messing around with this for about a week and really need to know if this is possible.
Thanks,
Mark

In Mach3 mill go to the offsets page and select one of the fixture (G54-G59) offsets, then go and position your tool, select program run screen and zero out the xy & z dro.

Repeat this for the other fixture offsets you need.

For Mach3 turn you will need to enter the G54-G59 in the MDI line to activate the fixture offset.
