AD sure servo And smooth stepper
« on: October 21, 2009, 09:19:37 AM »
I have a smooth stepper running automation direct servo system and the trouble I'm having is unable to get over a 500 rpm with the servo motor
even with the max speed set to 3000rpm in sure servo soft and max speed in mach set to 3000  even went as far as setting the steps per unit to
30000 per unit there was  a little change but still not right so if any has any ideas pls let me know

Have you got the frequency in the SS Plugin set high enough?

Can you hook up a PC to these drives and work from software? I can do that with the drives I have so can tune them without even having Mach connected if I wished. The reason I am wondering is if you can then you could check its working to 3000RPM from the drive as you may be limiting a setting such as the max current etc.

Ya I have the config software for the AD drives and I can manual jog the motor @ 3000 rpm thru the config software

Do you have a scope to see what the SS is putting out?
Also check that you dont have any electronic gearing set in the drive.

i looked at the electronic gearing and is set at 1:1 ratio the SS works great for Stepper motors but could i have the wiring between the ss and AD drive not right  ware the AD drive See only 1/2 the pluses from the SS controller

It may be that you have the  drive wired incorrectly for single ended Step/Dir signals.

Are you using a breakout board?  If so, which one?

the only BOB I'm using is just a plane db25 pin from the SS ribbon cable  and the AD zip link board

How should the AD drive be wired for a SS board Because I  think i have it wired for single ended Step/Dir signals
