LAZYCAM - DEFINITON OF ANY TERM IN THE MANUAL
« on: August 30, 2009, 05:49:38 PM »
Hi All LC users,
Sometime in the future the manual will have an appendix which will define any terms you may not understand.
So please post here and over time it will get done based on what is posted here.
Appreciate it,
RICH

Sorry, but the manual dosen't cover the Plasma Module . I missed saying that in section 2.1
I don't know much about plasma cutting. If someone wants do that module I will surely add it.

Is there a manual?

I'm returning from an long hiatus, I'm actually falling in love with LC all over again, simple milling.

Terms:

Under Posting Options, what is "Plunge Clearance"?

"LeadIn"?

what is "Overhang" when creating pockets?

Thanks, Curtis

Yes, in Members Docs

what is "Plunge Clearance
See Tutorial #6 (page 100) in the manual

"LeadIn"?
How the tool will move in preparation for a cut, required in some cases, see Tutorial #7, page 113 in the manual
also section 8.4.2

what is "Overhang" when creating pockets?
Not required or functional from what I could figure out when hacking the program

Regarding Tutorial #4, what is the difference between Raised Text and Relief Cut?

Nicolas,
I was thinking that text letters would be above a surface thus raised or below a surface thus in relief.
When engraving you taper in the material around the text and I was taught it was in relief.
LC does not generate code for relief in the true sense since your just machining the text so it sits above the bottom of a pocket.

Much appreciate your time RICH

In my mind I thought that both above and below the surface will be raised text since in both cases you have to make a pocket or offset around the text.

Now I got it, thanks again
