Can anyone assist me with importing a part from Solidworks into Mastercam Lathe. Is it better to use a parasolid or iges file. I cannot obtain a chain to write a toolpath from. I have no problem using either format for Mastercam mill .

Use a DXF file Preferably acad12 format.

Edit: I was thinking you were referring to LazyCam ooop's

I don't know what version you have but normally, importing files from SolidWorks into MasterCam is quite easy

Select OPEN.

Bottom of window, select the drop down menu and choose :FILE OF TYPE

Select Solidworks files (*.SLDPRT; *.SLDASM)

Also choose OPTION and check  " Import SolidWorks History "

Normally, this will work but sometime, it will not, don't know why

Many thanks for the advice, looks like I am coming right with the dxf. This is foreign to me as I am used to doing everything in 3D.
