Quick Step Pulse Motor Tuning Questions Help.
« on: April 18, 2009, 08:58:45 PM »
I am installing my VFD for spindle control and I'm using the C6 board from CNC4PC and it says in motor tuning under spindle to change the step pulse to 3. Well this changes the step pulses on my X Y and Z axis from 0 to 3 as well, what will this do to the other axis'. Thanks.

 :)
It basically changes the duration of the pulse ....higher #, longer pulse.

So how does going from zero to 3 not affect the motors, or is it just a slight delay in the way the pulses get there? I guess it's better to have them slightly longer than too short where the motor can miss a pulse?

Picture a 12" ruler with 1 pulse per inch.
The pulses could be 1/8" wide, or 1/2" wide.
Same amount of pulses per foot, just wider pulses with less gap in between.
Some electronics and isolated BoB's and such need the longer pulse so it is seen through the system

Ok, thanks for the explanation, just making sure it won't change anything and make the steppers act funny or mis steps.

Like HOOD said......it shouldn't, and I'll add.....most likely wont.
It will depend greatly on your overall set-up.
Time will tell.
