Z axis is dead
« on: March 30, 2009, 08:33:28 AM »
Hello everyone,

Everything was fine until I started my SyilX4 Mill today and the Z axis is not moving.
The DROs show movement but it doesnt move.

All other axis operate normaly and in manual mode the Z also works fine.

I did not change any settings !

Any ideas on how to solve this?

Have you checked that your GCode program does not have the feedrate set too high ? (there is probably more load on the Z axis than the X and Y).

PEACE

No I mean with the handheld controller that it works ok.
From mach3 moving the cursors  I only get movement for X Y C and not for Z eventhough the DROs show movement.

Is it still through Mach when using this handheld controller or is it a totally independant thing that does not require Mach?

It is handheld controller externally from mach3.

Anyways I solved the problem reading through some older posts.

It was the  serial cable. I bought a new one and everything was back in order!
It seems that only pin 16 (Z for SyilX4) was damaged.

Thank you
