I did this with Mach3,  the file was generated by Vcarve from a grayscale bitmap.
it is 18 x 24"  took 3.5 hours to cut from pink foam.

2 light coats of plaster and then airbrush painted.

The depth of cut is 1.8" , that was about as deep as I could get with my rotozip bit.

I haven't thought about what to do with it,  I would like to find a market for this kind of stuff.   

Put a nice simple frame around it.

I thought of doing one like it of the local lake and show it at the marina to see if they would be interested in selling smaller models.

There might be some interest in this from groups like the Resource District,  Visitor Centers,  Fish & Game     

If anyone has any ideas on a market for this,  I would love to make a buck or two to help support my bad habit of building & playing with cnc machines.

I was thinking it was for a model train or similar. I bet those model guys would go CRAZY over something like that, especially if they got to pick out a custom terrain of there choosing. I'm sure the scale would have to be much larger, but it's an idea anyhow.

Here's a possibility, municipalities like city planners, Parks and Planning Commission's as well as Architectural firms go to great length to present their ideas.
Landscape designers too. If you could take the topographical info and scale it to fit.......then walla.
Heck, talk to Tiger...you might even get a golf course to do.
