General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach3 and spindle speed controller
« on: September 26, 2008, 07:34:06 PM »
Hi, sorry, no pics for the moment. I have removed all wires and cables for the moment. Had troubles with E-stop when working so bought shielded cables and will replace them all. For the hook up, I followed what the manual says but had some troubles to set up Mach3 but after many attempts, I got some results. I also bought a Porter Cable router motor and will eventually replace the DC motor with it.  Not enough RPM and with the DC controller, I loose at least 1500 RPM. Before I could get 5500 RPM and with the controller, only 4000 which it's not enough for me. Will replace the spindle bearings  with ceramic bearings too. Sorry again if I'm not very helpful to you.

Hi Budman68. Sorry for the late responce, was out of town. No, did not received any responce from Mr Phomann. The board work even if I do not get any RED flashing led. Spindle speed can be controlled by Mach3 but have to use the feedback from the index board on the spindle.

Hi, thanks for the reply, I will wait for the pokey's update. Do you know how long this could take.

Hi, Like the title of my post, would like to use a pokey device to increase and decrease RPM and Feed, 10% each time I push the appropriate button. I could have one button to go up and one to go down with 10% increment.

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / Re: chip control on cnc lathe

Hi, Normally, chip breaker is related with feed and RPM. Very often, variation of feed and depth of cut by very little will make a huge difference.

If you work with a small lathe, try reduce depth of cut and increase feed. Do that until you get it right and get nice chips.

When working with aluminium, try to increase the depth of the chip breaker on the insert with a grinder.

But I think your best bet is to increase feed until you are happy with the result

Maybe this is crazy but already happened to me. My post processor changed my units to metric instead on inches.

You could also use one of these with a piece of reflective tape on the shaft, this work like an indexer.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Please, Help homing my gantry on my router

Debounce is already set at 2000, I'm probably sure I could have some noise problems, sometimes, I get a Emergency stop when working or even when router is not working at all.

I should remove all wires and install shielded cable, but this would be a huge job to do. They're all in cable track.

Hi Mr Phomann, just got my order today, thanks.

Is there other version of the board(DC-03) , because on page 16 of the manual, the led is suppose to be a rapid red flashing when signal from pin 1 is present.

Instead, what I get is a slow green flashing with no signal on pin 1 and a fast GREEN flashing when spindle is on after the M3 S2000

I can see the voltage increase and decrease as I increase and decrease spindle RPM with Mach3 on the output of the DC-03 board. Is this OK?

Also, as per the hook up schematic posted by "budman68" on this topic, they're 3 connectors, labeled RED - WHITE - BLACK. (On the motor controller)

There is also 3 terminals on the DC-03 board, labeled AV+ - Vout - AGnd.

Just a hint how to connect, just to be sure. Thanks again, Jeff
