« on: August 26, 2016, 02:45:13 AM »
Is it possible to deactivate an input?

I have a switch that I would like to deactivate when the homing is finish.

Thanks for any help, Jeff

SmoothStepper USB / 3rd port question
« on: March 13, 2016, 01:32:44 AM »
I'm using an ESS with PMDX-126 BOB.

Would like to use port 3.

Do I need another BOB in order to do this?

When to axes are slaved, is it possible to send pulses directly to one of the stepper driver with push button for some fine adjustment.

I would probably need two push button, one for step and one for direction.

Nothing to worry about the bob connected to the stepper driver?

Thanks, Jeff

I'm working on a mini CNC press brake and would like to know if there's a way to have Mach3 execute the code only if I press the foot pedal, if I release the foot pedal, mach will pause
and resume if I press the foot pedal again, until the cycle is done.

Or if I release the foot pedal, Mach will stop and go back up.

This is for security reason.

Thanks for any advice.

General Mach Discussion / I have CNC'ed my cold saw
« on: May 07, 2015, 01:50:56 AM »
I bought a manual cold saw this year that I've updated with a ball screw feeder and an electric cylinder made also with a ball screw.

Work OK for now but will need some help to program the feeder, feeder have about 30in of travel with limit switches at both end.

There is a pneumatic vice on the feeder and on the saw.

I've added 4 buttons on the screen, Open and close feeder vise and 2 others for the saw vice.

Both vises can also be actuated with 4 macros for programming, M200, 201, 202 and 203.

What I would like to achieve, is when the feeder is near the limit switch, would return at the starting point and continue feeding the stock.

Will update this thread with pictures, camera still in the shop and I'm at home right now.

Hi, I built a small cnc saw that work with Mach3.

Very rarely, the motor turning the saw will stop when cutting the pipe but the feed on the saw will not stop.

What I would like to do is add something to look at the motor saw rpm and stop the feed if the saw jam.

I can build something but I have no idea on how to monitor the feedback I could get from the saw.

Any help would be greatly appreciate.

Thanks for your time

General Mach Discussion / 640 X 480 mach3 screen
« on: September 24, 2013, 03:21:07 AM »
Hi, I've built a small CNC saw running with Mach3.

Would like to remove the 17in screen and replace it with a small, I think it's a 4 X 6 screen or something like that.

Since I only need 2 DRO's and a couple of functions, could it be possible to create a screen for that.

I don't need toolpath display.

Thanks for any help.

Brains Development / Macro for monitoring a DRO
« on: July 08, 2013, 07:08:47 PM »
Hi all.

I wrote a brain that look at the A axis DRO to the output #3 and to be on only when the DRO is between 1.000 and 1.500in.

This is for a solenoid that blow air to a carbide saw.

Work great but would also like to add another function to have that output on only when the saw move forward or only when cutting and turn it off when

it goes in reverse or retract. The problem I have is when the saw go back to the 1.000in position, it still between 1.000 and 1.500in

Can it be done.

Thanks a lot.

General Mach Discussion / Start, stop, reverse and stop again
« on: November 28, 2012, 04:35:25 PM »
Hi,

I will have a huge lot of small stainless pipe (3/8 X .030 wall  X 0.938 bend radius)) to bend at 180 degree,

I've built a small bender and would like to automate the process a bit.

What I want to do is :

1: Activate the air cylinder to clamp the pipe to the bending die.

2: push start

3:The bender bend the pipe to 180 degree + spring back

4: Hit the limit switch and stop (adjustable)

5: Rewind the bender to the home limit switch and stop

I have a spare 3 phases motor (with worm gear, high torque) and a VFD

Would like to know if it can be done only with the VFD or I would have to use Mach3 to control the bender.

Thanks for any help,

Jeff

G-Code, CAD, and CAM discussions / CNC Grinder code
« on: September 30, 2012, 11:18:35 PM »
Hi,.

I want to update an old surface grinder with stepper motor and Mach3.

It's an old boyar shultz, see the pic. Bought it for $500.00 a couple of months ago.

Is there an easy way to program this, like taking 5 passes at .0005 (Z)  and .015 on the Y axis on each pass.

Can be done with my CAM software, but what about macro.

Don't know anything about macro.

It has no coolant , so would like to add it as well. any problem with that if it has not been built with that option?.

Thanks a lot.
