The backlash speed is % of max in motor tunung but it appears to ignore the accel setting so it needs to be set accordingly to prevent missed steps.

Hi Rick,
Mach cannot be configured to run "Closed Loop" in the manner that you are describing.
The interface board simply monitors the actual motor movement through the encoder and signals Mach to STOP if the defined following error is indicated.
Then you need to re-reference the machine and resume the operation.
Not a true closed loop but it can save a job and your set-up.
Nice looking rig, btw.

Continuous stopping from the interface is also is a good indicator that you have other problems/issues with mechanical binding, stalling, motor tuning or too heavy cutting/feed rates.

What is your "Shuttle Wheel Setting" set at ?
You might try reducing it.

This is an air cooled engine cyl.
In this case, I guess the roughing could be plunge cuts with a grooving tool but the finish pass would be with the groover or the button tool, both of which would have the same characteristics/basic dimensions ? Long projection and narrow ? (except for the square corners and flat end on the groover)
BTW...Who is the mfg. of the tools you mentioned ?

Also, in the earlier release, I could set the IC (width) of the groover down small enough to cut this profile with NO finish clearance.

 I wonder if that type of tool should be defined as a GROOVING tool ?
I asked earlier about defining the IC, TIP RAD. and Holder for the Groover but .....no response.
