Drill Wizard for Turn
«
on:
November 17, 2010, 05:58:55 AM »
I do quite a bit of quick one off stuff on the lathe that wizards work great for. Drilling stock is one of them. Since there was no wizard that I was aware of I decided to create one so I didn't have to use MDI or create a program. I have a quick change tool post so I can hold drills with that so I can drill using the z axis for advanced things such as peck drilling, chip break or feed in/ out (reamer). Its not quite finished yet but hopefully soon. Here is a screen shot...

Nice, I'm sure many of the folks here could use that.
Thanks for posting-

Here you guys go...
Please use with caution!
If you find bugs please report them here.
Know issues...
Chip break doesn't work with Mach 3 due to unsupported G74 Cycle. I might do it long hand if I get time. If you have a better way. Please let me know.

Looks like G85 (Feed In/ Feed Out) don't work as well. Looks like I will have to do that one long hand as well.

Everything should be working other than the chip break cycle. Please use this version as a few bugs were corrected with clearance.
If you download it please let me know if you find any issues or see a need for something added.
Thanks,
Wes

I'll give the thread some time and if all works well I will put the files in the
download section
Mach Tool Box.
Thanks,
RICH

Still needs the chip break working. Since Mach doesn't support it. The only way i know to do it is long hand. Feed, dwell, feed.... rapid out.

Ok Rich... This one should be ready to go. Unfortunately I wont be able to test in on my lathe for a few days. Hoping some of you guys can give it a workout for me. Everything should be working correctly however use with caution until its fully tested.

Wes,
If I get some free time this weekend I'll try it out and give you feed back.
Hopefully there will some others folks who will try it.
