Setvar parmeters
« on: November 12, 2008, 07:52:13 PM »
I found them in the user manual but I cannot find a reference to Call SetVar(1000,*********) I am assuming this is the tool offset parameter.  Can someone point to where these values are listed in the Wiki or manual?

Thanks

the original Mach3 mill give a listing of Parameters........

BUT, the Tool Offset Parameter parameter is a DRO, look at the Wiki Docs under VB DROS.

Thanks for the info Scott.

I searched the Wiki and looked at every reference for DROs, downloaded the excel spreadsheet with the values printed, and looked through Art's files on the Yahoo boards but I have not found any reference to the VB DRO 1000.  I really just wanted to know if there are other DROs like 1000 that I should know about.

DROs above 1000 are used by wizards so can vary depending on what screen set you have loaded.

Ron,

That was the information I needed.  I never thought to look on the Offset page and see what variables were used.  I am using the default screen set and now I can see that 1000 is the "edge finder diameter" which is what I do not want!

Thanks for helping.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding but, your original post said your looking for the Tool offset dro? I am assuming ht.?

From the Wiki under DROs:
Tool Length Offset DRO(32)
Machine Z coord - Z Work Offset - Tool length DRO(180)

No my question was that I wanted to know what SetVar(1000) was doing.  I could not find a reference to it and I was assuming it was some type of tool offset.   Come to find out it is an offset but used in X-Y probing as a diameter offset used on the "OFFSETS" page of the standard screen sets.

But more important is the knowledge that variables above 1000 are used in wizards.  Although I am still wondering why 2000, 2001, and 2002 are used to retrieve x,y, and z probing positions. Is it just arbitrary?

Anyhow, just tying to learn.

Thanks for the help I know it can be frustrating answering these basic questions.

Much appreciated.

Dan,

Not a problem, we all started where you are.......

UserDRO's and UserLED's range from 1000-2255

who ever made the screen your looking at, just choose those numbers arbitrarily.
