Help a newbie!

Hello,

New user here so be gentle!

Are you suppose to re-zero the Z axis between toolpaths?  I created two toolpaths in V-Carve Wizard (excellent, by the way) for a sample cut - one an inside path and the other the outside (a letter 'O' in fact) both using the same tool.  Saved as two separate toolpaths.   Set up on the router and zero'd the Z axis to material. First cut (the inner) cut fine, but after finishing the Z zero was no longer where I set it - consequently the outside cut way too deep.

Am I doing something dumb here?  It's all new, so I wouldn't be surprised.  Does the machine not go back to zero when finished?

Any help/advice/pointers greatly appreciated.

Graham.

Edited to say: Originally, since the tool was the same, I tried saving both paths in V-Carve to one file, but it didn't seem to work. After posting this message I tried again, and, of course, it worked!

This sounds like you may have missed steps in the Z axis..Check your max Velocity and Acceleration, I think you may have over driven your Z axis :)
