Hi people,

Hood has been trying to help with this but we are getting nowhere.

I am using win2000 on  2.4G Core 2 Duo PC.

When I run DriverTest it comes up with "Mach2 Compatibility Test Diagnostics."

How can I get the Mach3 version? This was a clean install yesterday. See this thread for more info

Can't you just uninstall and delete (except what you want to save of course) the Mach folder on the C: drive? Then reinstall..

You are loading it onto the C: drive, correct?

Thanks for the reply, but I did that yesterday when Hood was trying to help.

I deleted everything associated with Mach3 including going through the Registry, I installed to C:\Mach3

In Properties for this DriverTest.exe file
Size = 421 KB (431,616 bytes) and
Size on disk = 424 KB (434,176 bytes)

Could someone validate this for a version that shows Mach3 in the Title bar?

I suspect the old Mach2 version is in the installer.

That is the driver test for that version of Mach and it doesnt matter that it has Mach2 in the title bar, it has only recently been updated to look like the one I posted a screenshot of yesterday. If you want to see that download the ver3.042 and you should see it. However that is not going to solve your problem as for some reason the driver is not working on your computer and loading a different test utility wont change that

Hi Hood and the others who have responded.

The DriverTest stopped working after I ran the SpecialDriver.bat.

When I ran OriginalDriver.bat, rebooted it worked again.

Sooo, since I was running the driver test to see what max kernal speed I can use maybe running the newer version of the DriverTest will suffice.

I will give it a shot as I have nothing to lose here. :-)

I will also install Mach3 on the XP in the garage and see what that does.

Hi Brett, yup got it and replied. I would like to understand what is going on with Mach3. I am a newbie to it and would like to be able to use it for both mill and lathe. My need right now though is to use the PWM to control the intensity of a formerly dead CO2 laser marking machine I was given which I now have running, albeit all but marking.

I cannot get the laser intensity electronics to work so I am thinking of tearing out all the electronics and using a xylotex or something to drive the current steppers. Before doing that I wanted to just try the PWM output and see if it would drive the Laser. It requires 5v at 5KHz so I need Mach 3 to be able use a kernel speed of 60K. If that works then tearing out the electronics makes sense.

That's how I got started on this DriverTest thing.

Dave you say the driver test stopped working after you loaded the special driver but from my understanding it has never worked for you.
Have you ever seen a line in the window of the driver test?
If you did was it smooth or full of spikes?
 If you have just seen the blank screen then for some reason the driver is not functioning correctly or the driver test is not seeing it. If its a case of the test not seeing it you can confirm its working by putting a scope on a Step pin and jog the axis, you should see a pulse, alternatively, if you dont have a scope,  you can use a voltmeter on milli volt range and you will see a voltage, the voltage is unimportant but will increase with speed.

 Once again it does not matter that the Driver test says Mach2 in the top, it will work with Mach3 it is just Art had never changed the writing in the drivertest namebar.

Sorry if I misled you, it did work but I didn't understand what it was telling me. I was just getting a message that said "Mach1 test complete" but I had no results of the "test"

You then showed me a pic which would have told me what I wanted to know regarding kernel speed, but my copy did not have any of that because as I now find out that your copy was from the Development version.
