New CNC troubles
« on: June 12, 2006, 08:28:10 PM »
I recently picked up a Taig CNC mill and am using mach 3.  I have been able to jog my machine just fine using a dedicated PC (Windows XP, Pentium 2, 450mHz 350MB ram).  When I run the test program it clocks out ok and it jogged properly so I figured I was fine.  I also ran a few test g-codes off line on a brand new dell (3 gHz, 512Mb) without any issues.  However, when I take the same code and bring it to run on the cnc PC, it freezes up, even testing the program offline.  It always gets stuck on line 2 of the 20+ lines of code and I have to reboot the computer.  Is the PC I have just too slow?  Any thoughts?

The minimum recommendation for Mach3 on a computer, is XP Pentium3 1 gig processor.

Thanks for the info.  Would it be possible to run Mach 2 with that computer?  As I just picked up a new machine a few months ago, I hate to have to get another.
