CV backwards (G61/64)
« on: September 11, 2008, 05:10:41 PM »
If the "CV Distance Tolerance" checkbox is checked (turned on) the machine is in exact stop mode, if you uncheck it (turn it off) its in continuous velocity mode. So its backwards. This is in version R3.041 and R3.042.008. I'm not sure when this happened but it has not always been this way and I have made no other changes to either of my mills except upgrading Mach. Please correct this.

Just to make sure what you are saying, if you have the CV tolerence checked and issue a G64 from the MDI it turns CV Off? If so then that deoesnt happen here and I am using 008.

No. The machine states the correct modes but I can tell by the way the machine is pulsing that its in exact stop mode. Take the Gcode attached and run it with CV on then run again with CV off. You will see that mach is stuttering in CV mode (its stopping at each point) then turn CV off and you will see the pulsing is smooth and fast ummm... continuous.
So its like some boolean value in the mach code is backwards.

Turn light switch on and the light goes off turn it off and the light goes on kinda deal. But the leds and displayed modes are correct. Its the performance thats backwards.

OK, well I am at home now (11pm here) so will check it out tomorrow but I run version 008 on the lathe and dont think its happening for me but will look more carefully tomorrow and also check on the mill as well.

Great. What I supplied you with was code for a 4 axis mill. You need at least 2 axis simultaneous motion to perceive the problem. I can generate code for that if u like. I don;t know about the lathe but it should be the same. Its really noticeable on 3d contours.

No problems with code, will manage that ;)
Will check it out on both mill and lathe and let you know.

It's recommended to turn all the CV options off, unless you really need them, and know how to set them up properly. Have you read the CV docs?
