Bug, or Feature?
« on: September 05, 2008, 01:13:36 PM »
I was testing some G-code today, and cutting hardboard instead of metal.  I cranked the feedrate over-ride all the way up.  But, it appears the over-ride affects rapid rates as well as cutting rates, which makes no sense at all to me, as rapid rates are normally set to the max capability of the machine.  Needless to say, this made the machine go nuts on every rapid.  Is this really the way it's supposed to work?  If so, it sure seems really wrong to me....

The newest version has a separate override for rapids.

As has been said the Rapids can be locked to the Feed for overrides but it should never go above Max in motor tuning. Previously this could happen for feedrate but should now be fixed. Where the locking of FRO and RRO is very handy is when proving a programme, you can use the FRO pot (if you have one) and as you slow down all moves will slow by that percentage, it is especially handy for lathes where there are a lot of rapid moves.

ger21,
I always had you down as an ozzy, dont know why but going by the flag looks like you are not :)

Ah, yes, good to see another USA dweller  ;)

Although with all the political crap going on this time of year, I'd rather be somewhere else...   :D

Everyone's copying Hood with the flags. ;D

I do like that guy's avatar with the foetus driving a car, those whiplash gear changes remind me of her indoors.  ;D

OK, I can't find any such checkbox under Config->General, or even anything close.  Where exactly is it, and how exactly is it labelled?
