Weird pulse coming from pc
« on: August 12, 2008, 06:04:24 PM »
Hey Guys,
I've been running Mach 2 for 3.5 years now and recently developed a this problem.
I'm hoping you guys can help with.

The PC is sending a pulse/signal to the table router every 5 seconds or so.
Does not matter weither Mach 3 is running or not.
This signal/pulse casuses all the geckos and relays to jump open then close.

I'm thinking it could be casused by the fact I'm use the 5volt supply from the computers power supply.

Would love in insite
thanks
dave

Any software newly installed?
Can you monitor with a scope and see whats coming out the port?
Tried deleting the port in device manager then rebooting so its redetected?
If you have a PCI parallel port you could try that insteaad.
Could be the power supply but doubt it if its always been connected that way, suppose it could be breaking down and getting noisy.

PLease find a different source for the 5 volts. I pick up 5 volt DC supplies at the flea market for .25 cents each.
Not even worth making.

I was testing a relay board on the PC under my desk (not one of the PC's I normally run Mach from) a couple of months ago and every 10 seconds it would pulse all 8 outputs. I tracked it down to a printer driver which was polling the port to see if a printer was there.  Check to see in anyone has installed any printer drivers recently...
