Power Supplies

I am looking at item # 110274942786 on ebay.  Would that be a suitable PS for a 3 axis mill?

That all depends on what size motors you will have, also type of drives will play a part. Switch mode power supplies are not recommended for a lot of drives, Geckos being one. Most drives like unregulated transformer style power supplies and you could probably build a nice one for around that price or not much more. and I would think certainly cheaper than the BIN price. One other thing is the voltage is only 24V, depending on the drives you have you might be better getting a higher voltage.

I saw the PD that Hood has in a PDF file, and the xformer alone is $93

Not sure what you are meaning but if you are referring to the pdf from Bob Campbells site then it will depend on what size transformer you need as to how much it will cost. I very much doubt it would be as much as $93 for the equivilent KVA to the supply you listed in the first post but as I am in the UK maybe it is one of the few things that are actually dearer in the USA than here.

That looks like it may well be suitable but really you need to tell us what drives and motors you will be using as that will only be suitable for smallish motors.

I have a small mill, the Grizzley G8689, that I want to convert to CNC. I will need drives and motors for that.  I was thinking something like a NEMA 34 size motor. I think the mill is also known as thr SIEG type.

That PSU should be OK as it looks a small mill so only small steppers will be needed. Only thing may be the Z Axis would require larger stepper than the rest unless you are putting a counter weight on it.
