Home switches still don't work. When I click on "Ref All Home" button, the numbers change to zero but the stepper motors don't run at all.

Jeff, dont have a SS here at home but just looked at your SS profile and you dont have the Limits and Home switches enabled. Dont think this is because there is no SS hooked up here but I will check tomorrow, in the mean time have a look yourself in Ports and Pins and make sure you have them enabled in the SS profile.

Do I have to enable limit switches in order for home switches to work? I only have one X-axis and one Y-Axis limit/home switches. I don't have limit switches at the other end of the axises.

No you need the home switch enabled though. In the xml for the smoothstepper that you attached they were not enabled. You can enable it as a limit switch also if you wish.
 Let me know if your problem with the hming is sorted when you enable the home switches.
