Xml problem
« on: May 09, 2008, 12:42:00 PM »
My hnc lathe has ran a few parts but today when tring to run a program it gave me a tool number too large error.
It should be loading the Mach3Turn xml but the diag screen shows its thinks its a mill.
It choked on the code 'T0303' which I have used before
The only non standard item about my setup that I can thing of is Mach3 is on drive D:
 Thanks Drew
If I had something important to say it would be here.

Make sure the shortcut you are using to start Mach is looking at the correct xml.

I have checked the turn shortcut prop's and tried the mach loader
I am using a custom .set screen and that seems to be some of the problem
Going back to the defalt screen 1024.lset seem to clear the problem
I use the .set extension because renaming the file to .lset caused some of the tool path displays to be blank
But not all of the tool path displays were affected
I have d/l and installed the latest lockdown ver of mach3
That did fix anything but did wipe out my tool change macro again
( I now keep a backup with a different name )
I also have had problems with (hidden) button scrips being lost
Thanks Drew

I went through the same problems with having to copy over backed up macros etc every time I upgraded versions. Asked Art if there was a way round this and the answer was so simple I couldnt believe I hadnt done it :D All you need to do is create a custom profile so that when you upgrade the standard macros will be replaced but it will never replace or overwrite your custom ones.
