How to config a linear scale?

How to config a linear scale ? I know the pins on parallel port (A pin9 , B pin10, R pin11) but I dont know where I should put these pins numbers to make the scale works.
I tried to config on Config -> Port and pins -> Encoders/MPG's (A-Port # and B-Port #), but nothing happened.

What is the R to pin 11 for?

Hi, Danie

If you set a,b, to #1 MPG pin's and use the TAB key "Jog" window you should see movement on the DRO for the axis selected, See pic. Below.

Use the Jog Mode button to set to MPG, then Alt A to select Axis X, then move the lin. scale.

Sorry instead of R is Z pin, I read on datasheet that this pin is used to reference or zero pulse.

ok you dont need the Index if you are just using it for measurement.
What you want to do is put the A and B to 2 pins and then configure in ports and pins/  encoder as you mentioned earlier. You will also have to have a power source to your encoder, make sure your encoder is 5v.

Ok I will take the pins of the linear scale DB9 connector (only A, B, 5VCC and GND).
For the source I used the 24VAC that source de Motors Drive and a bridge rectifier , LM7805 and some capacitors to make 5VCC.  ;D
