snowman engraving in Lcam
« on: December 02, 2007, 12:56:06 PM »
I have an engraving that I wanted to do on a keychain for my wife for x-mas but when I load the dxf in Lcam, it has way too many chains even after I've delleted many of the chains that I didn't want engraved. I've tried to clean it but it doesn't really do that much. Is the only way to fix this, to redraw it? I'm decent at drawing rectangles and machine parts but I haven't really gotten good enough to draw "pictures" with natural curves like this.

I'm uploading the Lcam file and the dxf so if you can help me figure out a way to clean this up, I'd appreciate it.

very nice of you, Chip, thank you sir--may I ask what CAD program you have and how you fixed them so that I may be able to do that myself in the future? I have access to Solidworks and I'm sure there's a way to do it, I just haven't figured it out yet.

One more note, you have helped make my wife very happy (she doesn't know it yet), I'll post a pic when I get it finished-

Hi, Dave

Group/Chain is a command in most cad programs, I used BobCad v22 hear.

Sent you a PM top of this screen, Under "User Info".

Thanks, Chip

Just thought I'd show a pic of the Snowman keychain I did for my wife. The image is on both sides and it's black anodized brushed aluminum.

Thanks again to Chip for helping out with this one, I still haven't figured out how to "group" chains yet, though.. ::)
