Mach3 help with set up
« on: December 17, 2025, 06:22:31 PM »
I just want to first say that I am very new to CNC and Mach3. My chinese 3040 came with it but didn't come with very good instructions to make it work. I am an idiot when it comes to technology and understanding ports and pins and such. I just need a basic set up to perform some small engraving and such and work my way up.
Question is, I have went through the settings (after watching several videos and taking down notes) and set up every way possible in Mach 3 and I cannot for the life of me get the machine to move. It moves on the screen but not the machine. I am using a laptop with windows 11. I cannot get anyone from ArtSoft to help very well. Does anyone have any suggestions for a me to try or have screenshots of setting I could try? I am trying to make a little project for my wife for Christmas but seems like that is not going to get finished at this rate. Thank you in advance!

To provide any assistance we would need some more information.

1) Post a picture of your machine controller.

2) Post your .xml file (typically ‘Mach3Mill.xml’ found in your Mach3 folder – you will need to rename this file to ‘Jonesey.xml’ to be able to post it).

3) Is your controller connected to your PC with USB or Ethernet ?
