I have a Bridgeport Series 1 CNC that still has the old motor controls that was run through Mach 3 using the printer port.  My motherboard died on the old computer and I have been trying to get it going on a newer computer.  The new computer has Windows 10 32bit on it so I had to get a UC100 motion controller to run it.  Once it the driver was all installed correctly, all I am able to do is get the motors to make a high pitched whining sound but no movement out of all three travel motors.  I was able to get my old hard drive mounted in a case to be able to pull the old settings to the new computer but still no luck.  There must be something wired a bit differently from the old printer port to the UC100.

I know switching this mill over to newer motor controllers would be best in the long run but I was hoping to learn more about cnc milling before spending more money and time on the old machine.  I'm new to most of this and figuring it out as I go when I find time.

Thanks for any help.

You may have the step rate set to high for the motors and/or drivers. We're you able to rescue the xml file fro the old controller?  I use 2 uc100s for my lathe and mill and they work fine. You could also ask over on the cncdrive forum as they make the uc100..

Yes, I was able to use the xml file from the last computer.  Ive messed with the step rates some but nothing seems to change.
