Repair after crash - Mach3 - X only moves in one direction
« on: June 08, 2025, 02:21:03 PM »
As stated.  I crashed my Mill.  I killed the spindle and am having an issue with the x axis.  The spindle is easy and parts are on the way.  Since I am changing the spindle motor and drive, I pulled the stock drive in prep.  I figured I would double check that all of the movement still functioned.  Everything was fine except that x axis moves in the neg direction no matter which way I send the x.  I searched the site and found quite a few things to check but nothing seems to work.  With the original bob, I swapped the motor x and y motor cable.  the problem moved to the y axis and the x axis worked fine.  I changed the driver.  no change.  I swapped the x and y inputs to the drivers.  Y changes cause the x to move the same direction no matter the input and x changes work correctly but on the y axis.  I swapped to a cheap bob and the same issues appear.  I have also changed the serial cables.  I also changed the pins on the x to be the a axis and moved the wires to the a axis.  I also checked the computer and it runs the lathe just fine.  I think i have ruled out motor, driver, bob, cables and computer.  The only weirdness seemed to be that the driver input changes caused the y input to move the x incorrectly.  I was expecting the y to move incorrectly.
Any ideas of next steps??

It appears that I replaced a bad driver with another bad driver.  Looks like the oddball drivers and power supply are about to be gutted.  So I am rebuilding.
