Sometimes it doesn't post code
« on: November 17, 2007, 02:03:53 PM »
Hi.

As stated in the subject sometimes Lazy Cam doesn't post code nor generate the *.tap file.
In the events log it says "post code complete" or something similar but actually no file is created.

I can't understand why, if it depends by the dxf file or by some wrong parameter.
When it decides to not post code no matter I close and restart the program the g-code won't be generated.
I must do all from start: import the dxf and redo all actions.  :(

Please, may you help me to find out this annoying problem?  ???

Thanks
Marco / iw2nzm

Did I receive no answer because this is a FAQ? Or perhaps my English is not so good to explain the problem?

Hi, Marco

LazyCam dose have some issues it's still a Bata version and scheduled for further work soon, Many are using it, I've had the same problem from time to time.

Post your problem DXF or LCAM file, Use the Reply button and Attach.

Describe what your problems are offset, pocketing....., Will the file ever post,  Is it mill, lathe, ....

Thanks, Chip

Attached to this post there is the file I'm using for the test. I drew the picture with QCAD, exported to dxf and then imported into LCam. I've just set the layer parameters, no offsets, pockets nor other features. A straight way to test the new CNC.

Well, I open the file in LC and click on the "post code" button. In the Project log I see:

20:37:09 --- -- Posting File.
20:37:09 --- -- Posting File complete.

But no file is actually created. And of course the code is not sent to Mach 3.

May you check if you can reproduce the problem?

What other freeware (as in beer) CAM software I could use to learn? I don't want to spend a lot of money before I will have some knowledge about the CNC.

Thanks again

I'm sorry for the delay.

I apologize but I have changed the original dxf file beacuse I was using it as a test one.
Of course, trying to import again the file (also the same) will lead to successful posting. But as I said before you need to redo all CAM operation you made.

If I'll catch the same behavior I'll post here the dxf and LCam file.

Now, I'm going to see CamBam which seems to be very handy and interesting.

Thanks
