mini pc
« on: December 07, 2023, 04:59:58 PM »
I am looking to get away from the laptops we currently use.
I purchased one of these from Amazon.

KAMRUI AK2 Plus Mini PC, Intel 12th Gen Alder Lake- N100(up to 3.4GHz) Micro Computer, 16GB DDR4 RAM 500GB SSD Mini Desktop Computer Support 4K HD/WiFi 5/BT4.2/Gigabit Ethernet for Home/Office

Windows 11 and it works fairly fast.
I have not hooked it up to a machine yet.
Has anyone used one of these?
If so how long have you used it before needing to replace?

Thanks,
Bill

I bought a similar one for my sister, and sort of to see how they are. They all seem to be sort of the same, with all sorts of Amazon sounding goofy names. So far it's been good. It runs pretty hot. So hot I even emailed the vendor and they told me it's normal. The fact they even replied surprised me a bit!! I would think that alone might affect lifespan, but who knows, Intel does say they can run that warm normally!!! It was running like 70C all the time, warmer when doing much.

I am running a similar one running Win10 and Mach3 with an ESS and it works great. Doing some production work with it on a Sieg KX3 CNC. Performs at least as well as the desktop machine that was with the machine when I bought it used. (the desktop machine died)

I've been using the KAMRUI AK2 Plus Mini PC for a few months now, and I have to say, it's been a game-changer for me. The Intel 12th Gen Alder Lake processor coupled with 16GB DDR4 RAM and a 500GB SSD make for a powerful combination that handles multitasking with ease.
