Is this the first job on this machine? Probably, definetly my first job on this machine. I sort of "inherited" this machine. A neighbor's husband passed earlier this year and she is planning to move in with her daughter. Her late husband had built this machine after having used a smaller machine. She was not sure if he ever got this one to cut anything or not. It is my first machine. I have been doing woodworking for many years and looked at many CNC machines and thought this would be a great opportunity to learn and so far I've been right!
For the curious, it is a 48" x 48" Bed, running an STB5100 USB Motion card. I am using Mach 3 Version R3.043.062. He was an engineer and kept great notes, kind of feel like I have gotten to know him just reading all his notes and working on his last project. Not sure what other info I could share about the machine to help troubleshoot, but tell me what you need and I'm happy to figure it out.
"What post processor are you using?" That G-Code was generated using Cut2D Desktop 11.504 using the "G-Code (inch) (*.tap)" post processor. I thought it was very long for what appeared to be a simple project, but chalked it up to my lack of experience.
"Try the Fanuc mill post and slow the cut down to 10 from 40" This generated a code that I do not even remotely understand. Again, may be my lack of understanding, but nothing I have seen looks anything like this. (see attachment)
I loaded the code you sent into notepad and saved it as a .tap file. It loaded fine but when it ran it only traveled to the left (-X) and down (-Y) creating a 3" staircase.
I appreciate your help.
