Problem with threading. Can someone help?
« on: September 06, 2023, 11:44:46 AM »
Hello,
i control my lathe with mach3 and the 2 printerports. All works fine, only threading is not possible. When the spindle
turns 50 rounds per minute the indexsignal is 40ms long. The number of turns is nearly correct shown on the screen.
Is the signal to short?
Thanks
Hans

What do you have debounce set to?

The debounce settings are 2000 and 0. I changed them to 100 and 1. Threading works also not, but the sync button is
now lighten. The speed stable button is not lighten. The indexsignal on the oscilloscope is o. k. Is there a program
available to test the indexsignal?

By " number of turns " do you mean the rpm?  How do you generate your index pulse?  If the drive is under manual control have you clicked "Spindle" 3rd to the right of RESET?  I had problems initially until I discovered that if I didn't do this the controller thought the spindle was stopped.  Also under config\ports&pins\Spindle setup I think you need to check the "use spindle feedback in sync mode" checkbox.

Yes i mean rpm. I use an inductive sensor for the spindle index. I use spindle feedback in sync mode and i control
the spindle manualy.

No more ideas I'm afraid.

I make some more tests with my lathe. I remove Windows 7 home premium and install Win Xp professional with two
new printerports. Threading does also not work. Then i remove the checkmark from: Use Spindle Feedback in Sync Modes.
So there is only a checkmark for Spindle Speed Averaging. Now threading works. Not perfect. In all manuals are checkmarks
on Use Spindle Feedback in Sync Modes and Spindle Speed Averaging. Why does this not work with my lathe?
Does someone have an idea?
Thanks
Hans

When you say threading is not working just what are you getting, is the pitch wrong or what?
Without engineers the world stops

Threading works on my lathe with Mach3 not correct. In the first 4 passes the tool finds the threat and not more.
