ATC Air Pressure Sensor Hardware
« on: February 21, 2023, 03:09:17 PM »
Avid PRO, Mach4, S30 ATC spindle. The atc has a 105psi air line hooked up a required.
I'm looking to install a safety mechanism for the atc.
I assume the system should be warned at below 90psi?
Which pressure sensors do you find work best for this application?
And what signal voltage should be sent to the pin on and Avid?

Thanks

if i understand you well you want add safety device avoid spindle open while run?
if so
there several safety loops i suggest
but first its to separate the air valve of the "spindle open" not in same block as all other valves(this avoid the feedback pressure come from the back door"
after ...if you want can add some more

Your choice of pressure sensor. As long as it gets the signal to the board, awesome it's doing it's job.

Your boards manual should tell you what the expected voltage is to your inputs.

Once you get this setup you'll need a signal script to check the input state and if it changes, ESTOP or feedhold whichever you prefer.
Once you get to that point just email in a support ticket If you need some help. Then we can post the signal script code here to help others.

Katz,
I should have been more specific.
I'm just trying to get an air pressure warning to impede the ATC functioning so if the air pressure has not been turned on or is too low the ATC will not accidently try changing tools and crash. I've broken some tools and forks already b/c I'd forgotten to turn the air pressure on.
Thanks

Goomba,
Thank you. I will get the hardware set up and get back in touch.

This is what I wound up ordering:
ProSense MPS25-1C-P200D

Tough to swallow the price up front but easy to dismiss if you consider all the parts you won't be breaking in the future.
I considered many cheaper options but reliability is paramount.

Automation Direct sells some solid stuff.  Expensive, but it will probably last a very long time.
That's where we purchases most of our stuff.
