Control jogging speed
« on: October 31, 2007, 05:28:59 AM »
Hi.

This is probably very, very simple. I would like to control my jogging speed (keyboard), where (if I can) control this ?
The best would be to have 2 or 3 speeds, like using shift and directions keys to toggle between speeds.

Thanks

Two speeds are set up allready. To do a slow jog, just push the arrow keys, to do a rapid, hold down shift and the arrow keys. You can change the slow rate by pressing the tab button adjust the value, press tab again to hide the MPG screen.

Thanks. I did not tested it, but it is strange, since when I use the direction keys (without the shift) the machine moves very, very fast, probably at full speed. Can this related to the use of milimetric units instead of inches ?

Maybe a bug.

Thanks

You need to set your slow jog speed as Brett said in his post, you can set it as slow as you like. Then when you jog it will move at that slow speed until you press the shift key as well as jogging, then it will move at full rapids.

Shift key makes no difference for me.  It's the same jog speed on or off.  Adusting the slow jog rate has no effect.  It jogs at what ever the last F speed command was.

While I'm at it.  The Alt key doesn't seem to function either.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.  Thanks.

I'll give that a try.  If I'm in incremental mode, shift has an effect.  No shift = incremental, shift/arrow gets me what ever F speed was last entered (not 100%). In continuous mode, shift has no effect, slow jog feed % has no effect.

For some reason the shift key now works when jogging.

The Alt key now works too.

Things just seemed to sort themselves out on their own.

Hi, Sheldon

These settings are easy to get confused.

Slow-Jog-Rate is in % of your "G00" speed (Which is the "Velocity" setting in Config, Motor Tuning).

Shift + Arrow Key is (100 % Slow-Jog-Rate) or G00 (Which is the "Velocity" setting in Config, Motor Tuning).

Feed-Rate is inch/mm/Units per minute.

Pic 1, Shift+Arrow 100 % Velocity setting.

Pic 2 Arrow key Slow-Jog-Rate 1 % "Velocity" setting.

Hope this Helps, Chip
