Couple questions about ArcPro
« on: December 12, 2021, 05:23:38 PM »
I'm debating between the ArcPro and ESS/TMC3in1. I have a few questions about the ArcPro:

1. With the TMC3in1, Mach4 will load THC settings from the gcode. It seems with ArcPro you have to select your material/THC settings in Mach4? Can ArcPro load THC from gcode instead?

2. ESS has it's own post processor and settings for Sheetcam. I have not been able to find a post processor for the ArcPro, is there one and I'm just not finding it?

3. I plan to use OHMIC torch sensing. Do I need an adapter or anything to use OHMIC with the ArcPro?

4. I will be using Clearpath motors. Do the wire directly to the motion controller for step/dir and HVLB?

Hello DynMetalworks

I will try my best to answer your questions.

1. You can save your THC settings for different materials in ArcPro screen. To select the setting you can use Gcode to select tool number. The tool number corresponds to the THC setting you have saved. Default is 0.

2. You can use Fanuc post processor with any software including Sheetcam.

3. Yes you will need a adapter for the ohmic sensor that can work with 24V digital inputs on the Integra 7866.

Here is an example on Mach4 forums to use one without a adapter.

4. you can wire the step/dir directly to the clearpath motors we have some wiring diagrams on our website.

Our controllers can only drive low watt sensors
Please use a dedicated power supply for the HVLB.

Hi DynMetalworks - I'm an engineer with Teknic and would like to comment on your 4th question regarding wiring to a ClearPath motor. All of ClearPath's I/O signals would be wired to the motion controller (in this case ArcPro or ESSTMC). This would include ENABLE, STEP, and DIRECTION (these are outputs from the CNC controller) and the HLFB (this would be an input to the CNC controller).  HLFB is a status output bit from ClearPath and the 4 letter acronym means High Level Feed Back.  It is commonly wired to a CNC controller alarm input, if available, to give 'servo on'/'servo off' feedback.  I wasn't sure what you meant by HVLB (was this just a typo or did you mean something like high voltage link box)?
The electrical section within our ClearPath manual (https://teknic.com/files/downloads/clearpath_user_manual.pdf) has several well annotated wiring diagrams to use as reference.
I hope this helps. If you have any additional questions, feel free to contact Teknic directly at https://teknic.com/contact/ or give us a call at 585-784-7454.
Best regards,
Abe A. – Teknic Servo Systems Engineer

Thank you both for the replies! This is very helpful.

Yes, HVLB was a typo. I meant HLFB.
