Z-Lift on and after tool change (Mill)
« on: July 15, 2021, 02:49:37 PM »
Hi there, I'm running a Licensed version  Mach 3 on a diy cnc mill (unsurprisingly) and fusion 360. The issue I have is when fusion 360 compiled g-code  commands a tool change it lifts the head (z-axis) to a predetermined height then asks for the tool change. Once the tool change is complete and I hit cycle start the head (z-axis) lifts away from the bed again and errors out at the top of the axis/endstop triggering/limit. If I then reset the error and hit cycle start the mill continues on correctly and machines the part accurately enough. so it does not lose its position it just lifts the head away from the mill table too far.

I am using the artsoft mill post processor for fusion 360. Can you advise where about in the post processor I should look to to see what command initiates the z-axis lift after the tool change and where the value  for the position/amount of z-axis travel relating to the tool change is stored so I can adjust the amount of z-axis lift during a tool change?

Thanks

James

That sounds more like a Fusion 360 forum question than a Mach3 one.
