Reviving old table that won't fire
« on: March 23, 2021, 11:19:20 PM »
Hi all,

I am brand new to the site and to using a cnc table. Ha! However, I am not new to computers, so I thought why can't I figure this out?

I was given the task at my company to setup this table and see if I can make it work,  it used to at one point but the plasma cutter was a different machine.

So I am able to load a g-code and have it move but it won't trigger the plasma to so anything.

So here is the setup:

Software: sheetcam and mach3

Plasma machine: hypertherm powermax 125

Table:
- breakout board DB25-1205 https://www.steppermotorcanada.ca/db25-1205f.pdf
-2-way relay https://randomnerdtutorials.com/guide-for-relay-module-with-arduino/
And 4 drivers for two drivers on the Y motors, one on Z and one on X.

It looks like the pins on the breakoutboard 2-9 are the motor signal outputs? And the 2 way relay is to fire.

I will attach screens of my settings to see if you guys could be so kind to help me find the missing pieces to getting this to work.

first interesting thing would be how the relay board is connected to the breakout board?
strange is that your enable1-6 Outputs are all enabled and assigned to the same pin's
than the Motor Outputs.
a screenshot of Ports&pins -> spindle Setup would also  be helpfull.

anything is possible, just try to do it.
if you find some mistakes, in my bad bavarian english, they are yours.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply. Here is a screenshot of the spindle Setup and a shot of the board and relay.

Looks like the pin 1 is what goes to relay.

Thanks again

Not sure if the cable that was once used is going to work with the hypertherm powermax 125

yes Looks like pin1 is used.
enter a M3 in MDI line and go to diagnostic page.
Output1 led should come on.
enter M5 in MDI and output1 should go off.
by doing this you should hear relay clicking.
you can also test with multimeter the relay contact.
if this is working, i think something is wrong with the cable.
powermax Manual says pin 3 and 4 are for external start

Hello!

I went to the mdi screen and input m5 to no reaction.

I can get the relay to click and light up by clicking on torch on/off. I also used a multimeter to check for continuity from pins 3 and 4 and they checked out OK.

Bear with me I'm new to all this, I also went to the diagnostic page and Output 6 is always flashing always, along with output 1 ONLY WHEN CYCLE RUNNING.

Do you know if the plasma machine should recognize an input? I was reading the manual and it says the screen can recognize a remote, it will disable manual operation.  Yet I see no reaction from the plasma screen either.
