software settings dimensional vs radius movements
« on: March 17, 2021, 03:23:53 PM »
I am running a Mach 3 version R3.043.062. I am using MasterCam and a custom Post Processor for MasterCam to Mach3. Those are working great.

My current configuration is in diameter mode. All diameter radio buttons are checked correctly. When I use incremental in the MDI in the manual tab to move the table, it moves correctly (1" movement = 1" movement) but when I am turning a part in diameter mode after touching off all tools it is still moving incrementally. i.e. if the program tells it to take a .02 cut it should move in .01 for an overall diameter cut of .02. instead, it is moving the tool to the full .02 meaning it is still thinking in radius mode despite the diameter settings. This is also affecting the G54 location in relation to the spindle centerline in operation and job setup.

I figure this is a setting some place in the Mach3 settings but I cannot find anything that relates to the issue in the setting or in any nomenclature for Mach3

What type of machine are you using and why do you have to swap between radius and diameter mode?

I'm using an American Bridgemill. I'm not switching between. I want to run dimensionally as set up in the MasterCam and all the settings in Mach3, and the Mach3 states that I am but its output signals to the machine are radius

I am running a Mach 3 version R3.043.062.

Long story short, I'm trying to cut a diameter using the jog. My numbers on the MACH 3 DRO do not match the actual diameter of the part that I just turned. All settings are on Diameter mode. If I cut .02 of a .5 diameter the DRO shows me .480 while the part diameter measures .460. Is there any way to see the true number on the DRO. i.e. if I cut .02 radius the DRO shows a .04 Diameter change?

I figure this is a setting some place in the Mach3 program how do I change this?

Sorry you are not making any sense, you talk about diameter and then tell me you are on a mill.

Make you mind up and show some pictures of your machine and then we may be able to help.

This is an American Bridgemill........it is a lathe/mill combo. I am not worried about the mill it is the MACH3 software settings that are affecting my LATHE.

please look at the Quote that I posted above and it may describe my situation a little easier
