Mach 4 ESS C82 Huanyang VFD PWM Spindle setup
« on: February 23, 2021, 02:45:04 PM »
CNC4PC supply a wiring diagram for a C82 and Huanyang VFD.  I have configured the VFD to operate correctly from its keypad.  However, I am entirely confused by all the posts / videos as to the Mach 4 ESS setup.  Please anyone running a recent (4517) Mach 4 & (v270) ESS -- spindle control setup?  The C82 uses Port 1 pins 14 & 16 as spindle relays, plus provide a 0-10V analog output (not sure what pin this is mapped to).  Although the supplied C82 pin config diagram labels the Port 1 relays as PWM and Dir, I have my C82 jumper set to "international" which implies these relays will be FOR & REV. ...That is how they are connected to the VFD.  And that is as far as I can go.  I would very much appreciate some help.

I continued to trouble shoot my setup.  Sources to guide configuration of ESS, Mach 4 and my VFD were numerous.  However, once I established relay control of the VFD and confirmed 0-10V analog output from my C82 BOB, I knew I was close.  The final piece in the puzzle was a VFD jumper.  Now all is well.  If anyone wants a detailed configuration for this setup, just ask.

Hello!
How did you get this to work.
I'am trying to hook up a kress spindle to a c76 board that looks similar.
But I'm lost. How did you solve the analog 1-10V output?

Hi
I can't help you with regard to configuration of your UC300 motion control card interface with your C76.  Configuration of my ESS plugin is where the work is done to set up control of my VFD.  There was no specific set up of the dedicated 0-10V output -- I believe it becomes active simply by telling the plugin that the spindle is under PWM control.  To start trouble shooting, have you measured the voltage of the 0-10V output in response to MDI M03 speed commands?  If you have not, then you need to do this.  If your spindle min/max speeds (set in Mach4 configuration Spindle tab) are 0/24000, then M03 s6000 should give 2.5V. :-). Let me know?

spindle min/max speeds set in Mach4 configuration Spindle tab seems to have worked. Now I can messure pwm voltage.
i'll keep working on it.

thanks!

Hello, not to dig up an old thread - but I’m having issues with similar hardware I cannot get a 0-10v signal to come from c82. It’s just straight 10v - am I doing something wrong, is there a setting that needs changed?

I’ve got the c82 with Ess and c76 (I think)
