Sometimes the MDI screen works for inputs & sometimes it doesnt. How do you activate it?    Also I'm showing +90.0000 but I only have 30" axis. How do I set this so it will show actual inches traveled?

What inputs? Can you give more detail? If it is the spindle, is it the dwell that makes it seem like it's not working?

When I go to the MDI sceen & input   X6  it does nothing, X does not move, I tried with jog on & off.
How do I get scale to inchs for machine coord's.

You have to give it a G command. G0 for rapid or G1 for a feed. Feed moves also need an f value.

Try this,
G0 X6
G1 X0 F15

Oh yeah, look on the settings page to change from inches to mm. Can also be done with g code, and config, deafault units.

Lock DRO's locks them to your setup units.
