CNC doesn't work properly
« on: August 18, 2020, 07:50:17 AM »
Hi,
I have a new problem with my CNC 60x40 router.
I cutted the family name on it. The material was baltic birch plywood 8mm thick.
When the router started second pass, it was about 1mm - 2mm from the first pass. When the work was finished the router goes to the end position and it was about 3mm-4mm far from the start position.
I tried to do it without any material. This time the router goes all passes in the same place and it finished in the same place where started.
How can I fix it?

Have a nice day.

First, thoroughly check all the mechanicals for coupling slip etc.
But you could also be loosing position due to missing steps caused by tool loading. Do you have your stepper motor drivers correctly set to the Current that is marked on the stepper motor ?

Thank you Tweakie.CNC for fast reply.
I checked all mechanicals. Everything seems ok.
First I thought that it is the axis controller. That's why I run the router without touching the material and it stopped in the same place where started. After that I thought that it isn't the controller problem.
Could it be something else?

Check your controller's motor current settings (dip switches ?).
If they are not set to the motor's rated current then your motors may not be providing their maximum torque.
