MB3 Breakout Board Power Supply
« on: June 18, 2020, 03:42:08 PM »
Hey,

Just recently bought an MB3 breakout board and the manual suggests using a 24V and 3A power supply, will it blow the fuse if I use a 24V with a 6.5 A power supply? The board will use what it needs, so it shouldn't matter with the amperage right?

Just asking for confirmation thank you,

It should be fine, the rating us usually the minimum requirement for reliable use, you could put a 3A fuse in line to the board to stop any faults cooking the board.

So i tried connecting my power supply to the breakout board and ESS, and the board just wont turn on. Does anyone know why this is?

I'm putting which power supply im using along with all the equipment below.

-Wire Gauge - 16
- Power Supply - OMRON S8FS-G15024C 24V/6.5 Amps
- MB3 breakout board with ESS

I checked and made sure its outputting 24 volts to power the MB3, but it just wont turn on, is it because I'm using 16 gauge wire?

Any input would be appreciated,

Have you set the 3 jumpers on the ESS correctly and you have the 24V going into the MB3 at the corner of the board.  Also check the fuse on the board.

I wasn't aware that I had to have the ESS jumpers in a certain configuration. Currently all three jumpers are open. The power is connected correctly, and the fuse is still white.

Thanks,

Heres the current configuration of the ESS for a visual.

Thanks again,
