Mach 3 freezing if left on for 30 minutes
« on: April 05, 2020, 11:38:11 AM »
I have had my home built router running for 8 years on windows xp without having issues.
I recently upgraded to windows 7 32 bit and have been having trouble ever since.
If Mach 3 is left for 30 minutes or so it freezes and has to be restart to get motor movement again, also the machine will randomly stop for no apparent reason.
It can be either on the y axis or the x axis and usually when moving from one cut part to the next or jogging the gantry to a start point.
Any help would be appreciated while I still have some hair left.

This is a problem with Windows 7. There is no workaround. I've spent so many hours trying to figure it out, i lost track.  I believe some of the embedded win7 does not do this but all the others (home, pro etc) will stop responding and no setting in windows will change this.  As Graham said. Go back to winxp. These newer motherboards need to have the chipset driver slip streamed into the xp install disc. Otherwise the install will fail.

Hi,
I use Windows 7 Embedded Standard (32 bit) as OS on my machine and it does not seize up or stall,
it stays on and powered up for days/weeks at a time, I never turn it off. The only time it stops is if there
is a power cut.

With Joe.
I have done a LOT of machining with W7, Mach3, ESS, with zero problems.
I have seen a 'run out of data' report once or twice while zooming and rotating the path display. The graphics card is nothing special, just maybe too slow? So I don't meddle, and it works.

Cheers
Roger

This only happens with parallel port configurations.

This only happens with parallel port configurations.
I am running Mach3 with parallel port under windows 7 32 bits - fully patched with latest Microsoft updates.
No problems even with kernel speed of 60,000Hz.
Change your RAM and scan your HDD if you have random freezing.
Also clean up Win7 registry with EUSING REG cleaner
