Mach4 SRO
« on: February 13, 2019, 09:53:39 AM »
i hope i'm in the correct discussion.
in mach4, the spindle area. is the SRO(bottom right in Mach4Mill) what i can set the spindle
RMP to or is that what the spindle is running as it goes thru the gcode ?
if i set an RMP, nothing happens and no readout is shown while code is running.
THANKS for any help !
Kenneth

Hello Kenneth,

That DRO is set by default to display TrueRPM, which is only provided to Mach4 if you have an input set up to do so. You can change the DRO using the Screen Editor. Go to Operator>Edit Screen and click that DRO. You'll see the Properties section on the left-hand side. The DRO Code is set to Spindle TrueRPM, but you can change it there. I would recommend going to Screen>Save As and give your newly customized screen with a unique name. That will leave a clean default screen to revert back to and it will prevent your screen from being overwritten if you update later on.

Best wishes,
Bryanna

i did save it as a new set.... Thanks for that idea.
i WANT it to show the RPM as the Gcode is running.
but it doesn't. i'm assuming that is what TrueRPM is suppose to do.
Thanks
Kenneth

Hello Kenneth,

TrueRPM displays the true RPM of the spindle. Unless you have an input set up to provide that information to Mach4, it has no way of knowing the True RPM. Spindle RPM will display the spindle speed that is commanded in the g code, which is what I would recommend using.

maybe i'm missing something here(probably)
is there a setting or pin i need to activate ?
or a check mark i missed ?
i "DO" want it t show true RPM
in the edit screen, it does show TrueRPM in the setting.
so i should be seeing what the gcode is running the spindle at ?
THANKS bryannab

Kenneth,

Do you have a spindle index sensor or encoder input? If not, your true RPM will read 0. If you want to have it show the programmed RPM, I think you'll have to change the DRO binding in the screen editor.
