Slow milling
« on: January 27, 2019, 11:58:36 PM »
Hi,

I'm running Mach3 for a Smitthy Granite that has been converted to CNC. The computer that is running Mach3 is pretty old (Pentium 4) but run correctly. When I run a program the program run pretty slow. It is not the feed rate that is slow but it is like the software take a pause between each move. Example if I do a circle that is defined as two arcs in the gcode, the spindle will stop at the beginning of the first arc take a pause of a second and do quickly the arc. It will take a other pause of a second before doing quickly the second arc.  I'm using a cnc router that also running on mach3 and it is pretty fast. Where this difference is coming from

1 - The controller

2 - The computer

3 - other

Thank you

Hi,
sounds like your mill is running in exact stop mode, that is the mill will come to a complete stop at the end
of each and every move.

You should be in CV mode (constant velocity) where Mach tries to blend moves together so it doesn't have to stop.

Yes you were right. I change it for constant velocity. It is better but not fuid
