Growling Stepper Motors
« on: August 11, 2007, 09:05:34 PM »
I have a Dyna Mechtronics DM2800 machine that I am upgrading from proprietary software to Mach3.  I have made the connections to the X and Y driver boards as well as the home/limit switches, which was not easy due to first trying to understand the purpose and design of the existing PC boards. Anyway, the stepper motors sound rough and make a growling sound when I jog them. They did not sound like this before so I know something is not set proper even though I am using the same drive boards and wire harness.  Please does anyone have an ideas what could cause the motors to run rough with a growling ??? sound like that?????????  It’s been a long hot day here in Florida and I’m tired, but any help pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated. Thank you.

I found an earlier post from Brian Barker telling another person to use Sherline Mode. That took care of the problem.
