Help Needed : Newbie : Auto Tool Z Height issue
« on: December 11, 2018, 05:06:40 AM »
Hi Folks,

I just built my first CNC router. I have a problem where the Z axis is moving very fast down to touch the Auto Z Height plate and then it bounces up! the issue is that it moves too fast to touch the plate?

It was working fine and properly and suddenly this issue appeared?

I don't know what is causing the problem and how it can be fixed.

I am using mm as native measurements, CNCRP machine! Tried to reinstall the Auto tool Z Height script and nothing happened.

Your help is much appreciated.

It depends on the script attached to the set height button.  The G31 probe command moves the tool at the current feed rate - usually the macro reads what that is set to, stores it away, sets the feed rate to a new low value such as 5mm/min, does the probing and referencing, then resets the feed rate to the previous value.  Try an "F5" command in the MDI before you set the tool height to check.  There are a load of tool height macros posted here.
