Mach3 slowing around corners
« on: February 16, 2018, 11:27:32 AM »
Hi my mach3 is slowingg around corners, any ideas why it does this? I would like it to stay a steady pace through my whole cut. I use sheetcam, so I have the option to set path rules and be able to slow it down in corners, but I don’t want that and it’s  not set. Still getting slo corners/arcs. Any help would be appreciated thanks!

Can you turn a corner in your car without slowing down?
The laws of physics usually come into play.
Need more information to really know what's going on, though.

Yeah, it’s called drifting!!

My cutting speed is set at 80ipm, when I cut say a circle, it is slowing itself it seems in a rate based on how small the circle is, slower = smaller. Same thing applies to corner, the tighter the angle, the slower it going

It feels very robotic... I don’t know if that’s the way to put it, but it doesn’t seem like the motors are running very smoothly anymore

What causes this is the acceleration rate your machine is capable of which you indicated to Mach 3 with motor tuning. To avoid losing steps or position Mach has to keep the acceleration and decelleration below the value you indicated. So machines with big motors capable of high accelerations corner much faster, but every single one slows down on sharper curves unless the feed speed you selected needs an acceleration less than the motor can do.

Hi Lex,
You mention it is very robotic in its motion. Make sure you are running in constant velocity and not exact stop.
Could you also tell us what your motor setting are? If you have a very slow rate of acceleration it will look odd.

Mike
We never have the time or money to do it right the first time, but we somehow manage to do it twice and then spend the money to get it right.

Lex, if this iOS on your plasma with the Proma, please try and fix one issue at a time - its called Thrashing - running around trying to fix multiple issues at once and it makes offering advice very difficult.

Get the Proma / THC going first I think, slowing in corners is 100% normal, any circles less that about 1-1/4" you need to add a slow-down rule anyway in sheet cam or they do not cut very well, smaller than say 1" is about 50% slower than the straight speed.

Okay sorry about this I’ll worry about the PROMA thanks
